What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. We have absolutely no use for this information and won't use it for single thing - it is also fairly difficult for the average user to remove it.
Contact forms
If you send us a message, we are logging your email address and associated contact information. It is also possible that we will add your email to our email "alert" or "notifications" which you can opt out of at any time using the link in the bottom of an email message. Most likely, you'll only end up on the email alerts list if you Join the mail list.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
We don't allow comments on the site so this is entirely useless information.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
The online bidding provider, has a whole different set of rules regarding login information. As we don't regulate any of those aspects, you should probably read their policies if you have doubts about security or privacy.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
We use software to track visitors to our websites. This data is largely anonymous to us and is only used for polling purposes and to provide more targeted and pleasant experiences. We are not able to associate this tracking data to a specific individual.
Who we share your data with
If you're on the internet using any of the major websites, anyone we might share tracking data with already has yours as well as ours and everybody else's. This isn't some tinfoil hat conspiracy, even unidentified sea creatures in open water show movement patterns and behavior traits that can be cataloged.
The main partners we share tracking data with are Facebook and Google.
Even if we weren't sharing data with them and you are a user of their services, they are already tracking you. Facebook is known to track even the users not on their service and there really isn't anything preventing Google from doing the same thing. Amazon hosts a great deal of data on the internet and probably has the ability to track anyone accessing it.
None of this is new or unique to our website experience.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
You are welcome to take any security measures you deem worthy on your end. The only information we retain is contact information and financial data once we have entered into a transaction. You may inquire about what that data is but we are well within our rights to retain it for records of our transactions. If you have doubts about sharing information during a transaction with us, we suggest that you don't proceed with the transaction.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments and emails may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
We will not yield your data to any entity unless compelled by legal authorities.
There are some title and financial information segments that may be shared with various authorities.
Additional information
How we protect your data
Most of the data we deal in is public information or secured by 3rd parties such as payment providers, banks, government agencies, etc. We have taken reasonable measures to ensure that your data is not subject to scrutiny where it is not warranted but most of that security falls upon the 3rd party service providers. Your contact information and purchase histories may be accessible if your password selection and security preferences are not well selected. You are responsible for making sure that your user accounts are protected from unwanted access.
What third parties we receive data from
We receive tracking data from Facebook, Google and internal tracking mechanisms. We also conduct lien searches regularly and occasionally conduct background checks.
